Carbonite Integrates Remote Access to Online Backup Solution

London, 12th March 09 — Carbonite, the leading provider of online back up services, today announces the addition of remote file access to its award winning online backup service.

The addition of remote access makes it possible for Carbonite users to access backed up files from any PC in the world with an Internet connection, even if Carbonite is not installed. Users simply log on to www.carbonite.com and navigate to the remote access tab on the navigation bar, where they can securely download one file at a time.

The new feature makes it possible for users to access their files when away from their PC or travelling. Sharing digital photographs or videos when not at home is easy, as the files can be accessed from a friend’s PC. Business travellers can be assured that even if a vital presentation is lost or forgotten before a meeting, they can still access it quickly, as long as the file is backed up by Carbonite. This feature will be available from 16th March 09 to all Carbonite users with files backed up on Carbonite version 2.3 or later.

"Remote access is a feature our users have been really keen for us to include" comments David Friend, CEO of Carbonite. "Our customers have always trusted us to safeguard their digital lives and keep them secure should their hard drive fail. We’re now able to provide further insurance, allowing users access to their files anytime on from any PC with an internet connection".

Carbonite will also be introducing a restore search option that will allow users to easily find backed up versions of lost files for a quicker restore. A year’s subscription to Carbonite, providing unlimited backup space, is available for $54.95. A free 15 day trial is available at www.carbonite.co.uk

The company has raised over $47 million from its investors and management to date.

Carbonite believes that PC users should not have to think about backup. Its mission is to provide an inexpensive, reliable and truly easy-to-use product for the mainstream PC user; one that is simple, safe and always on.
