Carbonite Launches New iPhone App
London, UK — 19th January 2010 — Carbonite, a leading
provider of online back up services, today announces the release of an
iPhone app that allows users to browse, view and share backed up files
on the move at anytime.
The new app allows users to log in to
their Carbonite account from any iPhone or iPod Touch. Once logged in,
users can access all files backed up to Carbonite, in the same folder
structure they appear on the user’s PC or Mac.
Features of the Carbonite app include:
- Browse: Users can browse backed up files directly on an iPhone or iPod Touch
- View: Files including PDFs, images, audio, video, and Office documents can be opened and viewed on the mobile device
- Share: Users can attach any file to an email with a single tap, allowing access to all files from anywhere, anytime.
The Carbonite app also has an offline mode, allowing users to access
cached content when a Wifi or 3G connection is not available.
"The mobile world is becoming increasingly important, with consumers
demanding ‘on-the-go’ access to many applications and resources"
comments David Friend, CEO of Carbonite. "Our customers have always
trusted us to safeguard their digital lives against any kind of hard
drive failure. Knowing how important these digital lives are, we’re now
providing the ability to access and share files from anywhere at anytime
with a mobile device. The remote access feature has proven very popular
with our users, and we anticipate a similar reception for the app.
"This is the first example of our expansion into the mobile space, and
we plan to increase our offering in the coming year with apps for other
popular smartphones."
A year’s subscription to Carbonite,
providing unlimited backup space, is available for $54.95. A free 15 day
trial is available at www.carbonite.co.uk
